Dr Daniele Ganser is a researcher at the Center for Security Studies at the ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology). Sphere of interests: geostrategy and security, secret warfare, business and human rights, problems of war and peace.
Headed a political scientist group in the framework of the 2002 campaign in support of full UN membership for Switzerland. Ex-member of the expert committee for matters of peace and human rights at the Swiss Foreign Ministry. Ex-head of the international affairs and political analysis division at the Zurich-based think tank «AVENIR SUISSE».
Has good command of English, German, French, Italian and Spanish.
Author of books on the role of the UN and CIA in the Cuban missile crisis (Reckless Gamble. The Sabotage of the United Nations in the Cuban Conflict and the Missile Crisis of 1962. University Press of the South: New Orleans 2000), and analysis of the Swiss economic situation compared with EU members (Der Alleingang. Die Schweiz zehn Jahre nach dem EWR nein. Orell Fuessli, Zuerich, 2002. )
The work proposed to the reader formed the basis of a third book, for the first time addressing the subject of NATO’s destabilizing activities in Western Europe in the cold war period («NATO’ s Secret Armies. Operation Gladio and Terrorism in Western Europe». Frank Cass, London, 2005)
